  • Eleven years after Alicia de Larrocha participated on the inaguration of the Symphonic Hall of the Barcelona Auditorium, Hall 4, named after her, was officially opened, on December 16th, 2010. The new infrastructure is in an adjoining building that serves as headquarters to the OBC (Barcelona Orchestra), the ESMUC (Catalunya's Superior School of Music)  and the  Músic Museum, It is a Hall  that is complemented with a new multipurpose space and a terrace. It has more than 200 square meters, contains 600 mobile panels driven by 60 motors that turn the sound and the stands are retractable, so the space can be modified according to the specific needs of users. It can be used as a stage for performances in public and as rehearsal hall, for, among others, the Municipal Band. The creation of this new hall was in response to the increasing need of space for activities detected by the Auditorium, which welcomes almost 1.000 public events a year, without taking into account the previous rehersals of its in-house groups, not only OBC, but also BCN 216 and the Arab Orchestra of Barcelona.
